Paul Walker's death in the eyes of a Muslim

Assalamualaikum wbt,

I would just like to share a few of what recently happened ,regarding the death of a man.

"Everyone shall taste death.’’ (3:185)

Once before, we were awakened by the death of a young man, given the title- “suatu kematian yang menghidupkan”.

But lately, on the 30th November 2013, the fast and the furious actor, Paul Walker passed away at 40 in a fiery car crash, after he was on hand to host a charity event for Philippines Typhoon. Paul Walker passed away in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide and therefore, to the eyes of the world , he died as a hero. But many Muslims are making fun of his death or how he wasted his life.Saying that all his good deeds are valueless.

Nevertheless, Rasullullah s.a.w gave immense respect to the dead regardless of their religion - he personally stood up during the funeral procession of one of the jews to show respect.

Narrated Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila:
Sahl bin Hunaif and Qais bin Sa`d were sitting in the city of Al-Qadisiya. A funeral procession passed in front of them and they stood up. They were told that funeral procession was of one of the inhabitants of the land i.e. of a non-believer, under the protection of Muslims. They said, "A funeral procession passed in front of the Prophet (saw) and he stood up. When he was told that it was the coffin of a Jew, he said, "Is it not a living being (soul)?"
[Bukhari]

His death as much as Ammar’s death was being grief by all the closest friends and families. He loved speed so much, he even said “ If one day the speed kills me, do not cry because I was smiling.”

As a Muslim, nevertheless in every situation, there's always a lesson to be learned.I remembered before, during usrah, one of my usrahmate said “we will die while doing what we love the most.” I guessed it’s true. Thus, do we want to die while watching a movie? or die in the remembrance of Allah?, as much as we all been praying hard, “ Allah hummahtimlanabihusnilkhotimah, walatahtima’laina bi su’ilkhotimah”. Even our deary Prophet Rasullullah s.a.w last words was “bahkanteman yang tertinggi, bahkanteman yang tertinggi ,Allah s.w.t “ in the remembrance of Allah, only Allah.

The only way is not to attach ourself to dunya. Not to take and hold dunya in our heart but only in our hands. This worldly life, the dunya, is just like the ocean. And our hearts are the ships. We can use the ocean for our needs and as a means to get us to our final destination. Iphone 5s,galaxy note 2,ipad 3 or even ipad mini is only a means. But, imagine what would happen if the ocean become our end- rather than just a means. Eventually, we would drown. Likewise, Paul Walker’s death is an eye opener to me. He may die as a hero to the eyes of the world, but would it be more beautiful if we could die as a hero in the eyes of Allah? As a mujaheed/mujaheedah fighting in the path of Allah. He lives for speed and he died because of speed.

How about us? Do we live and die because of Allah?

Allahualam.
